Most logbooks fail for the same reason: at the end of a shift, nobody wants to type. TRACE asks you to talk instead. A case that would take five minutes of typing takes about thirty seconds of describing.

TRACE is designed so that patient-identifying information is never needed. Templates ask for an age band rather than a date of birth, and there is no name field anywhere in the app.
When you type, identifiers are stripped automatically — names, NHS numbers, dates of birth, postcodes and hospital numbers are removed before anything is sent.
When you speak, your audio goes to Google's Gemini to be turned into filled-in fields. It cannot be filtered first, because there are no words to check until the audio has gone. TRACE tells you this before it ever opens the microphone, and asks you not to name a patient. You can decline and type instead, or turn the assistant off entirely and keep the logbook by hand.
Before you export, TRACE checks the file for anything that looks identifiable and tells you what it found, so you can take it out first.
Nothing. There are no accounts and no passwords, so we do not know who you are. There is no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising, and the app contains no third-party code — nothing from another company runs inside it.
The one server we operate checks that a subscription is valid and hands back a short-lived pass for the assistant. It never receives, and cannot receive, anything you record.
